Description

In a program of grandeur fitting for Walt Disney Concert Hall, two monumental 20th-century works take centerstage: Prokofiev’s powerful Second Piano Concerto and Shostakovich’s crowd-pleasing Fifth Symphony. A fast-paced work by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Colburn’s Maestro Ernst H. Katz Chair of Conducting Studies, opens the concert. 

The Colburn Orchestra is generously underwritten by Eva and Marc Stern. This performance is also generously supported by Koni and Geoff Rich.
