Name

Colburn Baroque Ensemble: In Nomine Terra Calens

Description

The Colburn Baroque Ensemble is joined by renowned seismologist, baroque musician, and composer Dr. Lucy Jones for an innovative program centered around the climate crisis. Performed against a backdrop of climate-focused art and media, the music of Rebel, Purcell, Gabrieli, Telemann, and more is paired with narration by Dr. Jones to paint a picture of the current crisis and the actions we can take to minimize it. The concert also features one of Dr. Jones’s own works, In Nomine Terra Calens (In the Name of a Warming Earth), in which she has musically represented the rising temperature of the planet from 1880 to 2017.
